Mission Statement

The strength and conditioning program at Rutgers-Camden allows for the opporunity for our student athletes to benefit from a strength staff that is dedicated to helping them acheive their maximal ahtletic potential. The program coninually gains merit as athletes and coaches grow to understand the impact the program can have on individual and team success. More than just a means to increase athletic prowess, the Scarlet Raptor Strength Training Program aims to develop its athlete's commitment, discipline, perseverance, and leadership to help them succed in the ultimate game of life!  The Scarlet Raptor Strength and Conditioning department will continue to educate athletes, coaches and athletic administration on the importance of team involvement using scientific research and proven fact.

Philosophy

More than just bigger faster, stronger; the Scarlet Raptor Strength and Conditioning Program incorporates a multi-faceted approach for all its athletes.  Along with traditional exercises used to improve power, strength and speed.  Rutgers University at Camden uses a variety of functional training techniques that simultaneously involves integrated training components and principles such as: multi-planar movement, the complete muscle contraction spectrum, core stabilization, and deceleration training.  Athletes are checked to ensure optimum posture and proper muscle balance and function.  The object is to keep the bodies interconnected systems functioning properly and at optimum levels so the highest level of ability can be reached.  Proper nutrition is also an essential topic in order to equip our athletes with the knowledge to fuel their bodies properly.  The bottom line is the most important aspect of training is what you are doing when you are not training.
The Scarlet Raptor Strength Training program takes a very proactive approach with the emphasis being on prehabilitation.  Athletes are introduced to injury prevention protocols to strengthen and maintain
proper functioning of joints and the goal of stopping injuries before they occur.  In the case of an injury, the strength staff works in conjunction with the athletic training staff in order to develop the safest and fastest recovery for an athlete.  Injury prevention always takes precedence during the design of our training protocols.

Vision

It is the desire of the Strength and Conditioning Staff to make the involvement of the student athletes enjoyable and informative.  The program will establish an understanding amongst athletes, coaches, and
athletic administration that strength and conditioning should be viewed as an essential component to the success our teams and not a separate
entity.
