Scott McCarthy made his Rutgers-Camden athletic debut on the indoor track team over the winter after transferring from Rowan University. He finished 26th in the 3,000-meter run at the Frank Colden Invitational Feb. 2 in a time of 10:13.83. He also was 10th in the 5,000-meter run at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, posting a time of 17:39.45.
McCarthy ran on Rowan’s cross country team during the 2007 fall season. He competed in five invitationals for the Profs, posting his top 8K time of 28:29 at the Don Cathcart Invitational at Salisbury University (Sept. 29). He finished 79th out of 131 runners.
McCarthy was a multi-sport letterman at Camden Catholic High School, where he competed on both the cross country and track teams for Head Coach Ralph Harris.
A History major at Rutgers-Camden, Scott is the son of Martin and Carleen McCarthy of Cherry Hill.
