Jason Kendall had a busy indoor track season in his first winter at Rutgers-Camden, participating in the 4x400 and distance medley relays as well as running the mile and competing at 3,000 and 5,000 meters. Kendall ran in seven indoor meets for the Scarlet Raptors, including the first leg on the Raptors’ 4x400 relay team which finished seventh at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 25. His top time out of three 3,000-meter races came at the Valentine Invitational in Boston, when he notched a 9:08.88 on Feb. 9. Kendall played a major role on the best cross country team in Rutgers-Camden history during his first collegiate semester. Kendall, who ran as the Raptors’ fourth runner in four of his six meets, helped Rutgers-Camden finish second at the NJAC Cross Country Championships – the best finish in program history – with a 27:11.91 clocking on Oct. 27. He placed fourth on the team and 16th overall out of 53 runners that day.

He capped his season with a personal best of 26:48.2 to finish third on the team and 91st overall (of 271 runners) at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Nov. 10. His time was the 13th-fastest 8K clocking in program history and helped Rutgers-Camden finish 12th out of 39 teams.
Kendall came to Rutgers-Camden after a fine career at Haddon Township High School. He earned All-Colonial Conference First Team honors as a senior in 2006, and added All-Group 2 Second Team recognition from the Courier-Postnewspaper. He was an All-Colonial Conference Second Team runner in 2005. He also was a Colonial Conference First Team performer as a distance runner on the 2007 outdoor track team.
Over his scholastic career, Kendall earned six varsity letters – three apiece in cross country and track – was the Camden County cross country champion and earned team MVP honors. He also was an Honor Roll student.
Kendall’s family also is active in Rutgers-Camden athletics: his brother Sean is a former member of the men’s club crew team who now serves as an assistant coach with that program. His sister Melissa is a coxswain on the women’s varsity crew team.
