Justin Edmonds etched his name into the Scarlet Raptors’ indoor record book over the winter when he set a program record in the triple jump and ran a leg on the record-setting 4x200 relay team. Edmonds’ triple jump of 42-04.00 (12.90 meters) helped him finish eighth at the Collegeville Classic Jan. 18 and set the Rutgers-Camden indoor standard. In his next meet, Edmonds ran the second leg on the 4x200 team which finished 10th at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 2) in a program-record time of 1:39.19.
Overall, Edmonds competed in four invitationals during the winter, including the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 25, where he finished sixth in the triple jump.
Edmonds also competed in the long jump (a top jump of 5.94 meters at the Frank Colden Invitational Feb. 2) and the 55-meter dash (7.19 at the Collegeville Classic Jan. 18).
Edmonds earned his second Rutgers-Camden varsity letter over the fall season when he competed in three meets with the cross country program. He made his collegiate debut on the outdoor track team in 2007, competing in the long jump and the triple jump.
During the 2007 fall cross country season, Edmonds posted his top 8K time of 33:21.6 at the New York University Invitational Sept. 15. He also competed in the Mixed 6K Run at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, finishing 23rd of 36 runners with a 25:38.61 clocking.
During the 2007 outdoor track season, Edmunds recorded his top triple jump of the spring (40-0.0) at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 31) and added a triple jump of 39-10.75 for a ninth-place finish at the NJAC Championships (May 5). He also had his top long jump at the NJAC meet with a leap of 18-9.25 to finish 10th in the conference.
Edmonds was a multi-sport letterman at Williamstown High School, where he competed on the indoor and outdoor track teams, in addition to the cross country program.
A Management major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to become a sports agent, Justin is the son of Kim and Alonzo Edmonds of Williamstown.
