         George “Brandon” Gordon came to Rutgers-Camden after a year competing on the cross country and track teams at New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Kean University. He competed in three NJAC Championships during the 2005-06 scholastic year at Kean, finishing 30th in cross country (27:32.30), placing seventh in the 5,000-meter indoor track run (16:45.69) and finishing eighth outdoors at 10,000 meters (36:52.54).

        Gordon continued his athletic success as a member of the Rutgers-Camden cross country team during the fall seasons of 2006 and 2007. He also ran on the 2006-07 and 2007-08 indoor track teams at Rutgers-Camden and was a member of the 2007 outdoor squad for the Scarlet Raptors.

        During the 2007-08 winter season, Gordon finished fourth in two meets at 5,000 meters, running a 16:31.74 at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 18) and a 16:11.32 at the NJAC Indoor Championships (Feb. 25). He also finished 11th in the 3,000-meter race at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 2).

        Gordon competed in five meets for the 2007 Scarlet Raptors’ cross country team, posting his personal-best 8K time of 26:47.8 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Nov. 10. His time was the 12th-best 8K clocking in program history and helped him place second on the Raptors and 90th out of 271 runners as Rutgers-Camden finished 12th out of 39 teams.

        During the 2006 cross country season, Gordon was the Raptors’ third runner in six of his eight races, posting his top 8K time of 28:33.01 at the NJAC Championships Oct. 28. He finished 34th out of 65 conference runners in that meet and helped the Scarlet Raptors place fifth in the NJAC.

        Gordon ran in five meets for the Raptors’ 2006-07 indoor track team, competing in the 1,600, 3,000 and 5,000-meter events and on one of the 4x400 relay teams. He finished seventh at the NJAC Championships in the 5,000-meter run with his season-best 16:59.00 clocking. He also posted a 5:00.4 clocking in the 1,600-meter run at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational (Jan. 27) and had his top time of 9:42.20 at 3,000 meters in the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3).

        Gordon finished his busy year on the 2007 outdoor track team, where he competed in the 1,500-, 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs. His top 1,500 time was 4:27.08 at the New Jersey Invitational (April 14). He ran a 16:47.68 clocking at 5,000 meters at the Lions Invitational (April 28) and had a seventh-place finish at the NJAC Championships with a time of 36:22.93 at 10,000 meters.

        Gordon was a Second Team All-Colonial Conference cross country runner during his senior season at Haddon Township High School in 2004. He also was a swimming and track letterman in high school.

        Gordon, who enjoys skateboarding, serves as a lifeguard in Stone Harbor and has been an active volunteer donating hair for the Locks of Love charity.

        A Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to pursue his Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling, Brandon is the son of Arthur and Lois Gordon of Haddon Township.
