During the winter of 2005-06, Taiwan Lamb helped Rutgers-Camden make its debut in indoor track as a member of the Scarlet Raptors’ first team. Since that time, Lamb has been a valuable member of the Scarlet Raptors’ coaching staff, serving as an assistant during the outdoor track and cross country seasons in 2006 and 2007 and the indoor track season during the winters of 2006-07 and 2007-08. He returns this spring for his third season coaching the outdoor team.
Lamb helped the indoor track team establish two school records during its maiden season in 2005-06. He set the long jump mark of 20-2 at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational (Jan. 28, 2006), then had a fine meet at the Frank Colden Invitational Feb. 4, where he was a member of the record-setting 4x400 relay team (3:51.86). He also set a record in the 55-meter dash (7.12), which was broken Feb. 19 by teammate Patrick Eigbe at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Championships with a 7.11 clocking. Lamb competed in three events at that NJAC meet, finishing sixth in the long jump (20-0.25), 20th at 55 meters (another 7.12 clocking) and 21st at 200 meters (25.02).
Although the 4x400 relay record was broken this past winter, Lamb’s mark in the long jump still stands as the school record.
Lamb was a four-year captain and leader of the Rutgers-Camden outdoor track program, earning team MVP honors during his senior season in 2005 when he competed in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, the long jump and the 4x100 relay.
Lamb helped establish the Rutgers-Camden track program’s record in the 4x100 relay (43.71) at the NJAC Championships on May 1, 2004. He also was tied for the school record in the 100-meter dash (11.4) before teammate Raphael Fuentes lowered that mark to 10.99 at the same NJAC Championships.
Over the years, Lamb has competed in the sprint medley, the 4x400-meter relay and the 4x110-yard relay, in addition to the 4x100, the long jump and the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He also has been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Rutgers-Camden.
Lamb also was a member of the 2001 and 2005 Rutgers-Camden cross country teams. During the 2005 campaign, he competed in three invitationals, placing fifth on the team at Goldey Beacom College (Oct. 8, 2005) and running his best 8K time at the ECAC Championships Nov. 5 (51:34).
A two-time outdoor and indoor track MVP for Coach Michael Ramsey at Atlantic City High School, Lamb served three years as captain of both teams for the Vikings. He earned Most Improved honors in 1997, a sportsmanship award in 199 and also was an Honor Roll student in high school.
A Criminal Justice major who plans to pursue his Masters degree in Criminal Justice, Taiwan is the son of Lanette Lamb of Atlantic City.
