        Former Deptford High School and Elizabethtown College star Tim Filewicz joins the Rutgers-Camden coaching staff this season, where he will team with his long-time friend Tim Oswald, the new head coach.

        Filewicz was a standout scholastic player at Deptford High School, earning First Team Tri-County Conference Royal Division honors during both his junior and senior seasons. As a junior, he added All-Group 3 Honorable Mention from the Courier-Post newspaper, and was named Second Team All-Group 3 as a senior, when he also earned First Team Gloucester County and Third Team All-State. He was named the Gloucester County Gatorade Player of the Year, was second in the county in goals (23) and was the runnerup for the Gloucester County Times’ CLAY (County Local Athletes of the Year) Awards.

        Filewicz went on to have a fine three-year career at Elizabethtown College before transferring to Arcadia University and graduating in 2004 with his B.A. in Elementary Education.

        During his Elizabethtown career as a forward and outside midfielder, Filewicz appeared in 50 games in three seasons, helping the Blue Jays to a combined 43-13-5 record over that span. He had two goals and two assists (six points) as a freshman in 2001, tied for the team lead with five assists as a sophomore and notched one goal and four assists during his junior season in 2003. In his 50 games he produced three goals and 11 assists for 17 points.

        Filewicz also earned First Team All-Conference Academic honors during each of his three years with the Blue Jays.

       Filewicz, who has coached summer camps with the Philadelphia KiXX and SportsFit America, also assists Oswald as a coach with FC Philadelphia United.

        A Deptford resident, Filewicz is a fifth-grade teacher at Deptford’s Shady Lane Elementary School.
