Sharon Smith begins her third season coaching with the Rutgers-Camden outdoor track program this spring. She also has coached with the indoor program and has been one of the Scarlet Raptors’ cross country assistant coaches during the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Smith brings plenty of experience from her outstanding career at Haddon Township High School and Rowan University. The former Sharon Crow began her running career at Haddon Township (class of 1998), where she won numerous individual titles and still holds school records in the 1600, 3200, and 5000 meters. She then went on to run track and cross country for Rowan University (class of 2003), where she was the New Jersey Athletic Conference track and field champion in the 5000-meter run (2003), as well as an Academic All-American for cross country for four straight years.
Smith holds Rowan's indoor track 5000-meter record, and also ran the anchor leg that broke the school record in the distance medley relay. She now competes in local road races with distances ranging from the 5K to the marathon, and in 2004 qualified for the Boston Marathon.
Sharon, who lives in Westmont and works as a CPA for Bowman & Company, LLP, has a strong passion for running. One of her life goals is to introduce as many people to running as possible and encourage other runners to be their best. |
