Hickman earns third NJAC Rookie honor
CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 2, 2012) – Rutgers University-Camden freshman Amanda Hickman (Millville, NJ/Millville) continues to pile up victories and honors as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.
Hickman captured her third weekly NJAC honor today after a stellar week which saw her post a 4-1 record at first singles, a 2-0 mark at first doubles and earn third place in the Goucher Invitational over the weekend.
Hickman, who won 100 matches during her scholastic career at Millville High School, raced through her first two matches of the week against Cairn University Sept. 24 (6-0, 6-0) and at Lehman College Sept. 27 (10-1). She also teamed with sophomore Morgan Kelly (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) to win first doubles in both matches, 8-0 and 8-3, respectively.
On Saturday and Sunday at the Goucher Invitational, Hickman won her quarterfinal match at first singles (6-0, 6-0), dropped her semifinal match (4-6, 3-6) and won the third/fourth-place match (6-2, 6-0).
Hickman, who also earned the NJAC Rookie of the Week on Sept. 11 and Sept. 25, raised her personal mark to 11-2 at first singles and 7-3 at first doubles with her big week.
