Raptors sweep duals at Stockton
VENTNOR, NJ (April 23, 2011) – The Rutgers University-Camden crew team captured a pair of races against Richard Stockton College on a rainy, windy day here Saturday.
The Lady Raptors’ Varsity Four posted a time of 8:03.38 as it beat the Ospreys’ boat by nearly 36 seconds (8:39.18).
The Raptors’ boat included senior stroke Kathleen Malony (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), junior 3-seat Kathryn Yannes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Holy Cross), junior 2-seat Elizabeth Kilborn (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township), junior bow Rachael Showell (Sweetwater, NJ/Oakcrest) and sophomore coxswain Miranda Czyzyk (Atco, NJ/Baptist).
The Frosh/Novice Four race was run on a shorter course due to the strong winds and rain, but the Raptors again won handily in a time of 7:40.01. Richard Stockton College finished with a 7:54.52 clocking.
Members of the Novice boat were stroke Czyzyk, 3-seat Showell, junior 2-seat Ashley Guida (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), sophomore bow Samantha McClernan (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) and coxswain Yannes.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday, April 30, when it competes in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships at Gifford Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry, Penn.
