2007 RUTGERS-CAMDEN ATHLETE
#7
Jayme Gatti

Name: Jayme Gatti
Hometown: Delran, NJ
Highschool: Delran
College Major: Human Resources
Position: Back
Height: 5-3

Jayme Gatti proved to be a two-way threat for the Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer team in her first year with the Lady Raptors’ program. A transfer from conference rival Rowan University, Gatti appeared in 16 games last season, including 11 as the Raptors’ goalie. She also played forward for Rutgers-Camden.

Gatti posted a 3-2 record with a 1.07 goals-against average as the Raptors’ keeper. She made 35 saves and compiled a .854 save percentage in her 506:37 of playing time.

Gatti’s biggest game came in a 3-0 loss at national powerhouse The College of New Jersey (Sept. 27). She made 16 saves to set a program record, breaking the old mark of 15, accomplished by Kristen Stewart against Lebanon Valley College (Oct. 12, 1999). She also faced 33 shots, one shy of the program record by Tracy Winter, also against TCNJ, on Sept. 10, 2002. TCNJ entered last season’s game ranked fourth in the country, and the Lions went on to finish as the NCAA Division III runnerup.

Gatti combined with Kristen Cargen on five of the Lady Raptors’ seven shutouts last season, including both games in the season-opening Shenandoah Women’s Soccer Shootout (Sept. 2-3) as Rutgers-Camden beat Bridgewater (4-0) and Shenandoah (2-0) to capture the title. Gatti played the second half of each game, making one save against Bridgewater and four against Shenandoah. She also played a scoreless half during shutouts against Albright (Oct. 3), Philadelphia Biblical University (Oct. 5) and the College of St. Elizabeth (Oct. 7). She earned the win in the games against PBU and St. Elizabeth. Her other victory during the season came in a 2-1 win at Rutgers-Newark (Sept. 16).

Not only did Gatti set a saves record against TCNJ, but she ended the season with a scoreless streak of 209:57, the fifth-longest streak in program history. Gatti’s streak started at the end of the TCNJ game, when she shut out the powerful Lions for the final 18:20. It included the games against Albright, Philadelphia Biblical University and St. Elizabeth, when she played 45 minutes in each game, and her scoreless stints against Arcadia University (43:48, Oct. 9) and Richard Stockton College (12:49, Oct. 23).

Gatti came to Rutgers-Camden after spending the 2005 season as a member of the women’s soccer team at Rowan University. She played in four games as a goalie for the Profs, recording 59:41 minutes of shutout play.

Gatti was the definition of a model student-athlete during her years at Delran High School, earning four varsity letters in soccer and one in softball, while also being a member of the National Honor Society. Voted as the soccer team MVP while serving as a senior captain, Gatti played in both the Burlington County and the South Jersey all-star games. She also earned all-conference Second Team honors.

Gatti is majoring in Human Resource Management at Rutgers-Camden.

Jayme is the daughter of James and Lisa Gatti of Delran.
