Rob Gambino finished fifth on the Scarlet Raptors in scoring during his junior season, collecting three goals and five assists for 11 points. His five assists ranked third on the team and allowed him to finish tied for eighth in that category among all New Jersey Athletic Conference players.
In his two years at Rutgers-Camden, Gambino has played in 36 games, starting 14. He has collected six goals and seven assists for 19 points.
Gambino, who transferred to Rutgers-Camden from New Jersey Athletic Conference rival William Paterson University, had a pair of three-point games for the Scarlet Raptors in 2006, collecting a goal and an assist against both Rutgers-Newark (a 5-0 win Sept. 16) and New Jersey City University (a 3-2 win Oct. 25). His assist against NJCU produced the eventual game-winning goal, which was scored by Rodney Guishard.
Gambino’s other goal came during a 2-0 win over Lincoln University (Oct. 7). He also added assists against The College of New Jersey (Sept. 27), John Jay (Oct. 9) and City College of New York (Nov. 9).
During his first year with the Raptors in 2005, Gambino collected three goals and two assists for eight points. He had a career day in his first Rutgers-Camden appearance, collecting two goals and two assists in a 9-0 win over York College Sept. 3. He collected both assists in the first half and scored a pair of unassisted goals after halftime.
Gambino notched his other Raptor goal Oct. 8 in a 4-1 victory over Cabrini College.
Gambino played in 15 games, making seven starts, as a freshman forward at William Paterson in 2003. He collected one assist with the Pioneers.
A three-year soccer standout at Cherokee High School, Gambino helped the Chiefs win the Group 4 state title in 2000. He earned Olympic Conference Patriot Division Second Team honors as a junior in 2001 and also was named All-Group 4 Honorable Mention by the Courier-Postnewspaper. As a senior, he captured Second Team Group 4 honors.
Gambino also was an Honor Roll student at Cherokee.
A Business major at Rutgers-Camden, Rob is the son of Andrea and Bruce Gambino of Marlton.
