Joshua Askew

  Rutgers-Camden senior guard Joshua Askew displayed the tenacity and drive that earned him the honor as the men’s basketball captain, and his teammates followed his lead to shock powerful Gwynedd-Mercy College, 62-60, in the Scarlet Raptors’ season opener Nov. 17. Askew scored 11 points, handled the point flawlessly and had game-high totals of four assists and five steals in the victory. His signature play came with a half-minute remaining and the Raptors clinging to a 59-58 lead when he stole an inbounds pass and raced in for a layup. The five steals lifted Askew’s career total to 158, leaving him five shy of tying the program’s all-time record held by Dane Nicholson (2003-07).
