Woody Redding
(Philadelphia, PA/Northeast Catholic)

Junior guard Woody Redding notched his fifth career double-double as the Rutgers-Camden men’s basketball team defeated Rutgers-Newark, 72-66, in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener Nov. 20. Redding collected 17 points, aided by 6-for-11 shooting from the floor, including a 2-for-4 performance from three-point range. He also dished off 10 assists, marking the fifth time in his career he has reached double digits in assists, and added three steals and three rebounds. His 10 assists allowed him to pass another player on the Rutgers-Camden career list and to tie Brian O’Donnell (1986-90) for fourth in program history with 214 assists. Joshua Askew (2006-10) is third on the list with 229 and only two players in program history have ever reached 300 career assists: Gene Mergenthal (2000-04) with 317 and the all-time leader, Dan McClain (1989-93), with 348. Last season Redding passed McClain’s single-season program record of 153 assists, hiking the mark to 156.
