Leighanna Milby finished her junior season in style and, as a result, helped the Rutgers University-Camden women’s soccer team close the campaign with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over New Jersey City University Oct. 24. Milby, who logged every minute of her playing time as a goalie during her first two years at Rutgers-Camden, spent about half of her time as a field player this season. In the last game, she collected her first career points on a goal and an assist to help the Scarlet Raptors snap a six-game losing streak and end the season with a victory. Her goal, a one-timer off a cross from Sarah Kooistra, tied the game at 1-1 early in the second half and also snapped a scoreless streak of 399:58 for the Raptors. With 4:10 gone in the second overtime, she assisted on Dawn Dixon’s game-winning goal. Earlier in the season, in one of her appearances as a goalkeeper, Milby tied the single-game program record of 17 saves in a 3-0 loss to Montclair State University.
