Volleyball senior Kristin Koloski and men’s soccer freshman Mike Ryan share honors as Rutgers-Camden’s Raptors of the Week after leading their teams to impressive accomplishments during the week of Oct. 14-21.
Koloski, a middle hitter who serves as one of the four captains on the volleyball team, collected 24 kills, seven digs, four aces, three solo blocks and three assisted blocks as the Scarlet Raptors posted a 2-1 week overall and a 1-0 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. She notched seven kills, one dig, one ace and two assisted blocks as Rutgers-Camden swept New Jersey City University Oct. 18 to maintain its grip on third place in the NJAC race. Two days later, in a four-set victory over Albright, Koloski had a team-high 15 kills and hit .419, adding four digs, three aces, one solo block and one assisted block. The victory raised the Raptors’ record to 19-6, passing the old program record for most wins in a season, set by the 18-13 team in 2010. For the season, Koloski leads the team with 54 aces, is second with 48 blocks (24 solo, 24 assisted) and is third with 150 kills. She also owns 58 digs and seven assists.
Ryan, a rookie who has played both midfield and forward, has been a key cog in leading the men’s soccer team to a 13-2-2 record and a season-long spot in the national rankings. The team’s leading scorer with nine goals and three assists for 27 points, he had two goals and one assist during the Scarlet Raptors’ 2-0 week. Ryan assisted on Rutgers-Camden’s first goal in a 2-1 win over Haverford College Oct. 17 and notched the last two goals – including the game winner – in a 3-1 conference win at Ramapo College Oct. 20. He is tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals and has helped the Scarlet Raptors to a second-place spot in the NJAC race entering the final week of conference play.
Ryan, a two-time NJAC Rookie of the Week (Sept. 24 and Oct. 15), also shared Co-Raptor of the Week honors with teammate Mitch Grotti on Sept. 10. Koloski, meanwhile, becomes the fourth different Raptor of the Week honoree from the volleyball program this season.
