Junior Mitch Grotti and freshman Mike Ryan fuelled the offense during the week to keep the 24th-ranked Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team undefeated. The two players combined for seven of the Raptors’ nine goals during the week as Rutgers-Camden went 3-0 to improve its record to 4-0 overall.
Both players earned all-tournament team honors as Rutgers-Camden won the Cialella Soccer Classic, with Grotti winning Offensive MVP honors at the Raptors’ two-day tourney after notching a hat trick against St. Joseph’s College-Long Island on Saturday and one goal against Arcadia University Sunday. He had the game-winning goal in both games.
Ryan, meanwhile, scored one goal in a win over Cabrini College Wednesday and had two of the Raptors’ three goals against Arcadia Sunday, scoring twice in a 28-second span. The two players are tied for the team scoring lead with four goals and eight points apiece.
