CAMDEN (Feb. 27, 2008) –Robin England (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) has had a phenomenal freshman year at Rutgers University-Camden as a member of the Lady Raptors’ cross country and indoor track teams, but England’s latest accomplishment dwarfs her impressive athletic honors.
England, a dual Accounting and Economics major who is an Honors College student, has been named to the 2007 NCAA Division III Women’s All-Academic Cross Country Team by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. She earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Rookie Runner of the Week honors on Sept. 10 after leading the Lady Raptors’ squad in her first meet. She finished 12th out of 94 runners overall at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational (Sept. 8) and posted a 21:40.68 time over the 5,100-meter course in her collegiate debut.
She finished the cross country season earning All-NJAC Second Team honors after finishing ninth out of 46 runners at the conference championships Oct. 27. She posted a time of 24:28.01 in the 6K race, which was the second-fastest 6K time in program history at that time.
Two weeks later, England was one of two Rutgers-Camden runners breaking the program’s old 6K mark of 24:07.1 when she ran a 23:56.6 at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals Nov. 10.
Overall, England competed in all six invitationals for the Rutgers-Camden women, leading the team four times and finishing second twice. Her top 6K time was the 23:56.6 at the NCAA Regionals.
England has continued her outstanding performances this winter, on her way to setting Rutgers-Camden indoor track records in the mile (5:30.57), the 3,000-meter run (10:51.83) and the 5,000-meter run (19:45.94). She set her mile record on Monday, Feb. 25, at the NJAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, when she finished sixth. She also anchored the distance medley to a program record of 14:44.49 and a third-place finish at the NJAC meet. The finish earned her NJAC Honorable Mention in that event.
England earned six varsity letters in cross country and track for Haddon Township High School, competing for Coach Sylvia Schenk in cross country and Coach Glen Gess in track. As a senior she captured New Jersey Group 2 Third Team honors and added First Team All-Group 2 recognition from the Courier-Post newspaper. She also won the school’s Houkirk Award for both track and cross country.
Academically, England was a High Honor Roll student who graduated ninth out of 191 in her class. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.

Rutgers-Camden’s Iwanicki captures
NJAC Indoor Track Athlete of Week
CAMDEN (Feb. 4, 2008) – Rutgers University-Camden sophomore Frank Iwanicki (Edgewater Park, NJ/Holy Cross) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week after an outstanding performance in helping the Scarlet Raptors to a second-place finish at the Frank Colden Invitational Saturday.
Iwanicki finished first in both of his events in the meet held at Ursinus College. He ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:35.75 in winning the 1,000-meter race, beating a field of 20 runners. His time barely missed his own program mark of 2:35.07, set Feb. 23, 2007 in the New York University FastTrack Invitational.
Iwanicki also ran the third leg of the Raptors’ winning 4x800 relay team at the Frank Colden Invitational. That squad posted a time of 8:11.09 to finish first out of 11 teams.
Overall, the Scarlet Raptors scored 81 points to finish second only to Johns Hopkins University (108 points) in the men’s competition, which included 18 teams.
A Mathematics and Education major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to teach, Iwanicki is in his second year with the Scarlet Raptors’ indoor track program. He also has been a two-year letterman for the Rutgers-Camden cross country team.
In addition to holding the Rutgers-Camden indoor record at 1,000 meters, Iwanicki was a member of the program’s record-setting teams in the distance medley (10:32.93) and the 4x800 (7:57.68). Both of those marks were set at the ECAC Championships March 2-3, 2007.
Iwanicki also opened the 2007 spring season on the Scarlet Raptors’ outdoor track team before his campaign was ended after two meets due to illness. In his brief outdoor season, he ran the third leg on the distance medley team, which finished first at the Richard Stockton Invitational (March 24) in a school-record time of 10:53.65.
Last fall, Iwanicki placed 20th out of 52 runners at the NJAC Cross Country Championships in a time of 27:34.12, helping the Raptors to a second-place finish. It was the team’s highest finish ever at the NJAC meet.
A former track and cross country standout at Holy Cross High School, Iwanicki earned a total of nine varsity letters competing for the Lancers – three apiece in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. He also earned Honors or Honors with Distinction in every quarter at Holy Cross, was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated sixth in his class.
Iwanicki was a First Team Burlington County League Patriot Division runner during his senior cross country season in 2005. He also was named to the All-Non-Public First Team cross country squad by the Courier-Post newspaper.
