Frank Iwanicki earned his first Rutgers-Camden varsity letter during the 2006 fall season, when he competed in all eight invitationals for the Scarlet Raptors’ cross country team. Iwanicki finished third on the Raptors in two meets (Goldey Beacom Oct. 7, where he was 33rd overall out of 115 runners, and the NCAA Atlantic Regionals Nov. 18, where he finished 142nd out of 230 runners). He posted his top 8K time of 28:41.28 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships Oct. 28 when he placed fourth on the Raptors and helped Rutgers-Camden finish fifth overall.

This past fall, Iwanicki returned to the Rutgers-Camden cross country program as one of the team’s top runners, finishing anywhere from third to fifth in all six of his meets. He recorded his top 8K time of 27:03.9 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Nov. 10, finishing fifth on the team and 105th out of 271 runners. His performance helped Rutgers-Camden finish 12th out of 39 teams.

Iwanicki finished fifth overall and third on the team out of 142 runners at the Cabrini Invitational Oct. 13 (27:46.86). He also was the Raptors’ fifth-place runner, finishing 20th overall out of 53 competitors, at the NJAC Championships Oct. 27. His time of 27:34.12 contributed to the team’s second-place finish, the Raptors’ best finish ever at the conference meet.

Iwanicki also added a Rutgers-Camden letter during his freshman year as a member of the indoor track team. During the 2006-07 indoor season, he competed in seven invitationals. He helped set school records as part of the Raptors’ distance medley team (10:32.93) and 4x800 team (7:57.68) at the ECAC Championships March 2 and 3, respectively. The 4x800 team finished second at the ECACs. Iwanicki also competed on the 4x400 relay team, in addition to running the 800M, 1,000M and mile during the winter season.

Iwanicki opened the 2007 spring season on the Scarlet Raptors’ outdoor track team before his campaign was ended after two meets due to illness. In his brief season, he was part of the program’s distance medley team, which finished first at the Richard Stockton Invitational (March 24) in a school-record time of 10:53.65. He ran the third leg in that event, teaming with Mike Fox, Akeem Lloyd and anchor Travis Stewart. He also ran a 2:06.29 time at 800 meters in the Danny Curran Invitational (March 31).

A former track and cross country standout at Holy Cross High School, Iwanicki earned a total of nine varsity letters competing for the Lancers – three apiece in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. He also earned Honors or Honors with Distinction in every quarter at Holy Cross, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated sixth in his class.

Iwanicki was a First Team Burlington County Patriot Division runner during his senior cross country season in 2005. He also was named to the All-Non-Public First Team cross country squad by the Courier-Postnewspaper. Iwanicki is part of eight school records in indoor track and is a two-time Parochial 800-meter and 4x400-meter winner in spring track, earning First Team All-Non Public honors from the Courier-Postboth seasons. He placed third in the states at 800 meters, then finished 10th at the Golden West Invitational in Folsom, California (June 11, 2006).

A Mathematics/Education major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to teach, Frank is the son of Michael Iwanicki of Edgewater Park.
