Taraschi paces Raptors
to RU-Camden title
WOODSTOWN (Oct. 29, 2007) – Rutgers University-Camden sophomore Dave Taraschi (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) shot a 78 to lead the Raptors’ golf team to the title of the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Invitational here Monday.
The event, rescheduled from a rainout Oct. 24, was held at the Par 72, 6,496-yard Town & Country Golf Links.
Taraschi, returning from an injury which caused him to miss practically the entire fall season, tied Eastern University’s Drew Krupp with a 78, but lost second place on a match of cards. Richard Stockton’s Lee Colannani shot a 75 to earn individual medalist honors.
Rutgers-Camden won the team title with a 339, followed by Eastern (359) and Philadelphia Biblical University (373). Richard Stockton College and Swarthmore College both fielded incomplete teams.
Taraschi’s score was the top round of the fall for the Scarlet Raptors. It also was his first outing since shooting a season-opening 84 on Sept. 8 at the Wesley College Fall Invitational.
In addition to Taraschi, the Raptors received an 86 from sophomore Reggie Richter (Erial, NJ/Timber Creek), while freshman Kyle Storako (Laurel Springs, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) shot a round of 87. Senior James Spera (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) recorded an 88 and senior Michael Affannato (Turnersville, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) shot a 99 to round out the Raptor team. Rutgers-Camden senior Justin Melendez (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), competing as an individual, finished with a 124.
The Scarlet Raptors Invitational was the final event of the fall for the injury-riddled Raptors, who posted a 13-43 record on the season. Taraschi's average of 81.0 in two invitationals was the top average on the team.

Rain forces postponement
of RU-Camden Invitational
WOODSTOWN (Oct. 24, 2007) -- The RU-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Golf Invitational, scheduled for today, has been postponed due to inclement weather. Rutgers-Camden will try to reschedule the event for early next week.
Patel’s 82 paces Raptors
at Cyclone Invitational
ALLAMUCHY (Oct. 16, 2007) – Sophomore Neal Patel (Princeton, NJ/Framingham, MA) shot a round of 82 for the Rutgers University-Camden golf team to lead the Scarlet Raptors at the 2007 Cyclone Invitational, hosted by Centenary College, at the Panther Valley Country Club here Tuesday.
Moravian College paced the nine-team field with a 316 score, led by individual medalist Stephen Labiak. Labiak defeated his teammate Lucas Smith on a match of cards after both golfers shot a 76.
Rutgers-Camden finished sixth with a 360.
Sophomore Reggie Richter (Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) finished second on the Raptors with a 90, while freshman Kyle Storako (Laurel Springs, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) shot a round of 93. Senior James Spera (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) recorded a 95 and senior Michael Affannato (Turnersville, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) shot a 104 in his fall debut.
Rutgers-Camden closes its season Oct. 24 at the Town & Country Golf Links in Woodstown, when it hosts its own Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Invitational, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

at Muhlenberg Invitational
LEBANON, Penn. (Oct. 15, 2007) – Freshman Kyle Storako (Laurel Springs, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) shot a round of 93 to lead the Rutgers University-Camden golf team at the Muhlenberg College Invitational Monday at the Lehigh Country Club.
Rutgers-Camden recorded a 389 team score to finish 13th out of 15 teams in the event won by Muhlenberg College’s “White” team, which shot a 311.
Hobart’s Jeff Mayo shot a 74 to earn the individual medalist honors.
Rutgers-Camden senior James Spera (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) finished second on the team with a 96, while junior Michael Nauss (Blackwood, NJ/Paul VI) added a 98. Sophomore Reggie Richter (Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) closed out the team effort with a 102.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Cyclone Invitational, hosted by Centenary College. It will begin at noon at the Panther Valley Golf & Country Club in Allamuchy.

Nauss, Storako pace Raptors
at Bent Creek Invitational
LANCASTER, Penn. (Oct. 8, 2007) – Junior Michael Nauss (Blackwood, NJ/Paul VI) and freshman Kyle Storako (Laurel Springs, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) each shot a round of 79 on the Par 71 Bent Creek Country Club as the Rutgers University-Camden golf team finished 15th out of 19 teams Monday at the Bent Creek Invitational.
Nauss and Storako finished tied for 22nd out of 84 golfers who finished the match.
Rutgers-Camden posted a 362 team score in the event won by host Franklin and Marshall College. The Diplomats set a school record with a 286 score to finish 17 strokes ahead of second-place Neumann College.
The closest race of the day came for the overall medalist, where three golfers shot a one-under 70 and Keystone College’s Sean Misstishin won on the first playoff hole.
In addition to Storako and Nauss, the Raptors received a 97 from Neal Patel (Princeton, NJ/Framingham, MA) and a 107 from sophomore Matt Dobson (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford).
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Oct. 15 at the Muhlenberg College Invitational, beginning at noon at the Lehigh Country Club in Lebanon, Penn.

at Wesley College Fall Invitational
WYOMING, Delaware (Sept. 8, 2007) – Rutgers University-Camden sophomore golfer Dave Taraschi (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) shot an 86 here Monday at the Wild Quail Country Club to lead the Scarlet Raptors’ golf team at the season-opening Wesley College Fall Golf Invitational.

The Raptors finished last in the 13-team event, posting a 364 team score on the Par 72, 6,794-yard Wild Quail Country Club course. Franklin & Marshall College won the invitational with a 294 team score, followed by host Wesley with a 298.
Franklin & Marshall’s Dennis Gunderson was the individual medalist with a 71.
Scarlet Raptor freshman Kyle Storako (Laurel Springs, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) recorded an 86 in his first collegiate outing, while junior Reggie Richter (Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) shot a 94 and sophomore Matt Dobson (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) shot a round of 100.
Raptors senior Jim Spera (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) was forced to withdraw with a shoulder injury.
Rutgers-Camden will have a long layoff until its next outing, when it plays at the Bent Creek Invitational, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College, October 8 in Lititz, Penn.
