Matt Tomasic has posted the top average on the Scarlet Raptors during each of his first two semesters with the Rutgers-Camden program.

        Although he averaged 82.8 during the 2006 spring semester, Tomasic was limited to only four of the Raptors’ eight invitationals due to injuries. He shot an 82 at the Susquehanna University Tee-Off Tournament (April 6), which was his only outing of the Raptors’ first five matches. He recovered from injuries in time to compete in the last three invitationals of the spring, which included a season-best round of 78 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptors Spring Invitational (April 28), earning him honors as the individual medalist.

        A transfer from Moravian College, Tomasic joined the Scarlet Raptors’ program during the 2005 fall season and immediately established himself as Rutgers-Camden’s top golfer. He led the team with a 79.0 average in six invitationals, including a season-best score of 74 at the Moravian College Fall Invitational (Sept. 22). That scored tied for the eighth-best round in program history, only three strokes off the school-record 71 by Chris Binder.

        Tomasic led the Raptors’ 2005 fall team at Moravian and at Elizabethtown (a round of 78 on Oct. 6), while finishing second on the squad at Wesley (78 on Sept. 6), Lebanon Valley (79 on Sept. 26) and at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Invitational (80 on Oct. 28).

        In 10 career outings at Rutgers-Camden, Tomasic is averaging 80.5.

        Tomasic competed in four invitationals with Moravian as a freshman, averaging 82.5 during the 2003-04 school year. His best score in the spring was a 79 at the Elizabethtown Spring Blue Jay Classic (April 7, 2004), when he shot a 79. He averaged 84.0 in a pair of outings during the fall of 2004, including a 77 at the Moravian Fall Invitational (Sept. 23). Overall, Tomasic posted an 83.0 career average in six invitationals at Moravian College.

        A former First Team Cape-Atlantic League National Division golfer at St. Augustine Prep School, Tomasic also was a National Honor Society member and a Second Team Cape-Atlantic soccer star with the Hermits.

        A Business major at Rutgers-Camden, Matt is the son of John Tomasic of Berlin.
