Zach Colgate appeared in three games for the
Scarlet Raptors during his freshman season, hitting .600 (3-for-5) with one run and one RBI.
Colgate made his collegiate debut March 1 as a pinch-runner in a game against Haverford College, but didn’t score a run. In his next outing, he had a pinch-hit single against national powerhouse Johns Hopkins University in the second game of a doubleheader March 11.
Colgate’s one start came in the nightcap of an April 21 twinbill against New Jersey City University, and he made the most of his opportunity. As the Raptors’ designated hitter in that game, Colgate went 2-for-4 with one double, one walk, one run and one RBI.
Colgate earned eight varsity letters as a student-athlete at Haddon Heights High School, with four apiece in baseball and football
During his junior and senior baseball seasons for the Garnets, Colgate earned All-Colonial Conference Second Team honors.
A History major at Rutgers-Camden, Colgate plans to teach history and coach baseball.
Zach is the son of James and Sharon Colgate of Haddon Heights.
