A transfer from Camden County College, Angelo Marchiano appeared in 10 games out of the Scarlet Raptor bullpen in his first year at Rutgers-Camden last season. He worked 8-2//3 innings and compiled one save and a 12.46 ERA, walking five and striking out five.
Marchiano’s top performances were scoreless innings against SUNY-Brockport (March 4), Springfield College (March 15) and hard-hitting Gwynedd-Mercy College (April 18).
Against SUNY-Brockport, Marchiano entered the game in the ninth inning and retired three straight batters to collect a save in the Raptors’ 10-8 victory. In the games against Springfield College and Gwynedd-Mercy, he worked a perfect ninth inning and a perfect eighth inning, respectively, while collecting one strikeout in each game.
Marchiano earned National Junior College Athletic Association Region 19 Second Team honors last season while pitching for Camden County College. He ranked seventh nationally in the NJCAA with a 1.459 ERA, while compiling a 4-2 record and one save in 37 innings. He allowed only 26 hits and seven walks, while striking out 27.
During his two years at Camden County College, Marchiano was on the President’s List (Spring 2004) and the Deans List (Fall 2004 and Fall 2005). He earned an Honors Business Leadership Scholarship and graduated with an Associates Degree in Business and a 3.425 GPA.
A baseball letterman at Cherry Hill High School West for Coach Gary Sarno, Marchiano also was a Principal’s List student.
Marchiano enjoys all sports and collecting sports memorabilia.
A Business Management major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to attend graduate school, Angelo is the son of Angelo and Sharon Marchiano of Cherry Hill.
